Lenore is a Jerusalem based visual artist. A native Brooklynite, she received her BA in art from Brooklyn College and has worked as an artist, graphic designer and producer since 2009. Her work has been displayed in solo and group shows in the US, Canada and Israel.
Most of Lenore’s work centers on cultural heritage and its relevance to modern life as well as exploring contemporary society’s assumptions about what is considered “normal”. She considers these ideas across several mediums and series which employ calligraphy, collage, photography and light.
Lenore creates both in and out of the studio, taking a particular interest in street art and murals in addition to her conceptual works on paper. Her street works can be found on surfaces big and small, from alleyway stairs to a recent 1,000 square foot mural. Using wheatpasting, stencils and freehand spray painting, Lenore has covered trucks, walls, and even tree stumps with her mix of colorful geometry and Arabic calligraphy.
The common thread that runs through all of Lenore’s projects is re-evaluation — of self, society, priorities, and assumptions. She aims to continually renew her perceptions and attitudes toward the world around her, and to create work which encourages others to do the same.
