Louis Barak mural in downtown Santa Ana for the Jewish Street Art Festival

Eureka by Louis Barak in Downtown Santa Ana. This mural pays tribute to Orange County’s long Jewish history. Nathan Fainbarg, originally a cobbler and bootmaker from Belarus, established a shoe store called Eureka at 315 E. 4th Street in Santa Ana during the 1920s. Nathan’s son, Alan, would later become a prominent businessman in Orange County, describing his childhood as a vibrant blend of cowboy shenanigans, orange groves, and boundless opportunity—allowing him to grow a modest investment into 24 successful stores by the 1980s. The mural features Nathan and his wife Rose, and overlooks the stretch of E. 4th St. that their family helped build.
