Mike Wirth’s #RBGMenorah mural is ready for lighting at Queens University of Charlotte! Located at 1900 Selwyn Avenue on the edge of the Queens campus, they have a full schedule of candle lightings each night. Check the events below, and visit the Stan Greenspon Center for Peace and Social Justice Facebook page for more details of these events and to watch the lightings live. Community members are invited to stop by and take selfies in front of the mural and post on social media, adding their own hashtags to the national hashtag #lightoverdarkness.

Thursday, December 10th, 5:30 pm, candle one, celebrating Hillel – Campus Rabbi Judy Schindler to welcome, Queens Hillel President Morasha Winokur and Mike Wirth to light, theme: celebrating five years of Jewish life at Queens and this national celebration of street art.

Friday, December 11th,5:00 pm, candle two, celebrating the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte. Tair Giudice to light. Chanukah Story “The Latke Man” told with puppets (a take-off of The Ginger Bread Man).

Saturday, December 12th,5:00 pm, candle three, Celebrating the Arts at Queens, Siu Challons Lipton to light and talk about Jewish art.

Sunday, December 13th, 5:30 pm, candle four, with Temple Israel, Rabbi Michael Wolk to light and Cantor Shira Lissak to help lead.

Monday, December 14th, 5:30 pm, candle five, with Temple Beth El, Rabbi Asher Knight to light and Cantor Mary Thomas to help lead.

Tuesday, December 15th, 5:30 pm, candle six, with Friendship Circle, Rabbi Bentzion Groner to light

Wednesday, December 16th, 5:30 pm, candle seven, Interfaith Council Night/DICE, Talli Dippold, Director of Jewish Life, to light and Chaplain Joey Haynes to help lead.

Thursday, December 17th, 5:30 pm, candle eight, Final night with Queens University President Dan Lugo to light.
